M1GO WF SUMMER 2010 preview

Get ready for some serious standing in line if you are wanting M1GO at WF this month, the Hedorah eye will be on sale to drive the completists insane, so that would include me I guess too. The Hedo eye is like the Kaiju no Tamago that Bullmark made years ago and that M1GO reintroduced at WF last summer. But these are larger and will have three figures inside, of course three different Hedos. There will be 9 different colorways to try for and I hope that it will be 3 to an egg and each egg will always have the same three, if they are a mixed three it's gonna be even more nuts trying to get them all!!!

Yeah, if the category is for half-assed goofiness! But a loveable goof none the less. As always M1GO makes him even more loveable than you would think possible, between the bright colors and the glow thats enough to read by in the dark who wouldn't want to take him home! But with only 50 made I think there was a few people that didn't get to bring home a new friend.

And here is a link for the one and only Godzilla movie he was in (Godzilla's Revenge) if your not sure about just how much this beast is not very beastly, well maybe except for his laugh.

M1GO Direct Mail Middle Size Arrive!!!!!

Got the $350 dollar surprise today, a box of beautiful M1GO middlesize figures! I ordered these a few months back and thought they would be here a while ago. Later there was a notice on the M1GO site they would be delayed so I didnt really know when to expect them, then today the mail man came at about 8:30 in the evening, my wife answered the door and the post guy says $350 COD and I knew what was in that little box! So I threw the money at the guy and grabbed the box looking for a knife but couldnt find one, after waiting since April I didnt think I would stand another 5 seconds so I just ripped it open. As soon as I saw the headers and the colors inside I knew I made a mistake, I should have ordered more! Oh well, there will be some fellow M1GO collectors I cant help out this time, sorry everyone!

Now that these are here I need to put them with the Beams releases from last month, they might be half the size as standards but I have a feeling I am gonna fill a shelf pretty quick at this rate, and WF is coming soon........

M1GO x BEAMS Kaiju No Tamago

Sunday was a day of smiles and tears. My wife woke me up to tell me that there would be a drawing at Beams for the tamago release that day so I cancelled going to see District 9 even though I had already pre-paid for my ticket. She new it was the one thing I wanted to do during Golden Week and the night before I was leaning toward not taking the hour and half trip to Beams as I heard the only prize was going to be t-shirts, but this news changed that plan real quick. I had sold off some stuff to pay for the eggs so I had a little extra money so what the hell, 1800 yen for the movie tickets was worth the sacrifice for M1GO toys. Off to the train station I went!

90 minutes later and trying to dodge all the tourists and 12 year olds on Takeshitadori I arrived at Beams 20 minutes before opening. A friend of mine was parked out front when I got there so we talked about how the flea markets here are a waste of time now and what M1GO stuff we wanted. There was only about 10 other people waiting and some of them were just regular shoppers, I was a little surprised but it wasnt a super limited to 10 only release so no big rush. Just the M1GO nuts were there that early. So this is getting too long and sorry to bore you, I will cut to the chase. Bought the maximum 2 of each egg, went over to the drawing table and took a ticket for each item bought, so I got 12 tickets. 7 loosers! But I won 4 t-shirts and a small pink Tokyo Tower. My friend bought one egg and got a loser ticket, I gave him a t-shirt. I talked with the Beams guy for a while as all the usual suspects got thiers too and watched as they won the standards and giant size kaiju. Oh well, what ya gonna do? So I bought a few more after getting in line again and got 4 more losers outta 5 while the guy behind me got 3 for 3 and walked away with 2 Chibull and something else good I dont remember. So I went home thinking I will try YJA for a Chibull and how I am stoked for the next Beams collab! I couldnt be sad, any M1GO day is a great day!

Epilogue: I gave all the other shirts away too and kept one and thats covered in cat hair now. And my wife asked the theater if I could still use the ticket so I went later that night to see a pretty awesome movie.

Tsuchinoko post again.

What What What??? M1GO released 3 colorways of a japanese UMA, the mysterious jumping snakelike creature called the Tsuchinoko. I dont know why but I have always wanted to collect toys of this little monster ad I love snakes and its pretty freaky. Now with M1GO making a figure I guess I will be starting. Thats Ok, my wife likes the idea too. If you dont know what a Tsuchinoko is here is some info, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsuchinoko . No one ever seems to mention that it looks like a Gaboon Viper but I guess I only bring it up because I am a snake nerd, I wanted to be a herpetologist when I was growing up, and no it doesnt mean the study of herpes. I have seen a zillion different variations of the Tsuchinoko's body patterns as no one has any real documentation of it existing so its anyones guess what it really looks like. Here is a Gaboon viper link too for an idea of what it might really look like, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaboon_viper, enjoy!!!

Mighty Jack Figure and DVD

I finally got the Mighty Jack figure! I missed this when the DVDs were released a couple years ago and everytime I see it it's over a $100 so I kept passing, and then over the weekend a friend made my Mighty Jack dreams come true, even at retail price no less!!!! The figure retails at 6,500 yen and the DVD/Figure set is 10,490 yen. A few picts from the M1GO site below:

I don't remember much about the show. It's from Tsuburaya so you will see some of the Ultraman people in it. Basically it's just another cool Japanese SF show from the fabulous '60s.

New M1GO Blog for all my M1GO and Monster obsessions.

This space is going to be dedicated to the one company that stands above all the rest making monsters since the glory days of Bullmark and Marusan, M1GO.
